Assistant Professor of Asian Studies

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Asian Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position.  

The Asian Studies Program offers courses at all levels in Asian cultures and Asian languages, a B.A. Program in Asian Studies, an Asian Studies Minor, a BA-MBA Double Owl Pathway, and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in Asia Certificate.  

This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia. 

Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate courses in English on Asian cultures as part of the Asian Studies B.A. program, delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Courses include ASIA1102 Introduction to Asian Cultures, ASIA3001 Understanding Asia, and specialized courses based on the candidate's area of expertise.  
• Service to the Program/ Department/ College/ University/ professional community.
• Sustained efforts to recruit, retain, and mentor students in a growing Asian Studies program.
• Strong scholarship with a consistent agenda of scholarship/creative activity including peer-reviewed publications.  

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines. 

Required Qualifications Include

• A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Asian Studies, Asian Cultures, Asian Languages, or a related discipline, is required. ABD will be considered; however, the degree must be earned by the start date.  
• Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience in Asian Studies or related fields.
• Evidence of a productive research agenda in Asian Studies or related fields.
• Native or near-native fluency in English.
