POSITION SUMMARY
The EMS Assistant Manager ALS oversees the daily operations of the EMS Department for a designated platoon. This includes but is not limited to maintaining adequate staff levels, keeping proper equipment readily available and emergency command response to incidents. The EMS Assistant Manager (ALS) supervises the following staff during their shift, as assigned: MICN's, RN's, MICP's, MAV technicians, Medcom Communication (in the absence of Communications Asst. Manager) and ALS Students.

The EMS assistant Manager ALS is responsible for the provision of a high standard of emergency medical care to the citizens of Atlantic and Cape May County and surrounding areas. The EMS Assistant Manager ALS is role model for desired company values, responsible for resolving customer service issues, operating within budgetary guidelines, identifying ways to best utilize System resources and maximizing performance through continual reassessment of System needs and EMS response to Mass Casualty Incidents, Special Operations requests and Special Events. The EMS Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining all licensed vehicles in accordance with established NJDOH regulatory guidelines and ensuring that vehicle checks and patient charts are completed within the allotted timeframe.

The EMS Assistant Manager ALS is responsible for providing assisting with new hire orientation, communicating performance expectations, and providing feedback to staff on a consistent basis.

The EMS assistant Manager ALS provides leadership on designated Shared Governance Teams of the Health care system. All EMS Assistant Managers will collaborate to ensure smooth operations at all times.
The EMS Assistant Manager ALS also maintains established controlled dangerous substance CDS); par levels, maintaining security, reconciliation and quality assurance by 100% chart reconciliation and quality assurance by 100% chart review of completed CDS usage sheets.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's in EMS, Business or Public Administration or related field degree. Incumbent must have or begin a Bachelor program within 6 months of hire.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified as a Paramedic or MICN by State of NJ required. Current BLS required. ACLS, PALS or PEPP Certification required. Completion of the National Incident Command Courses, ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required. FEMA Professional Development Series, ICS 300, 400 preferred. Valid Driver's License required. NJ EMD and NECI 9-1-1 officer required within 3 months of hire.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years' work experience in EMS. Previous Supervisory Experience preferred. Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. Knowledge of all aspects of emergency policies and procedures and clinical applications required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 20 pounds and lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
