Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Benefits Accountant to work in our Benefits, Tax, and Treasury Accounting department reporting to the Senior Manager of the department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

You will process and account for all retiree benefit and other pension provider payments.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Control/reconciliation of accounts and records (balance sheet, P&L, bank accounts).
  • Complete reports/schedules for internal audiences (management reporting) and for external audiences (compliance reporting).
  • Prepare various statements and reports.
  • Evaluate existing company procedures related to accounting area of assignment and interpret and apply Federal Regulations as applicable to contract(s). Verify compliance of activities with plans and procedures of the laboratory and applicable laws, including federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Reconcile, research and account for expenditures. Prepare necessary journal entries. Reconcile totals. Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Analyze cost records to check distribution of costs.
  • Update desk procedures for assigned area and maintain written procedures and policy documents.
  • Classify labor, material, and overhead costs to compute the cost of product or service.
  • If assigned to Payroll group, resolve, and address various complex payroll issues including taxes, disabilities, garnishments, and payroll deductions. Perform payroll distributions activities and associated accounting activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process and system improvements and provide solutions to a variety of problems to management. Provide functional support in system upgrades or changes. Participate in process improvement committees as assigned.
  • Provide metrics related to accounting and operations.
  • Develop expertise,, and provide guidance.
  • Conduct special studies and develop or recommend enhancements to current or new accounting methods or procedures.
  • Work with other related internal organizations to ensure the proper flow of accounting information.
  • Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, Accounting, or related field and 0+ years of experience or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience in business, financial areas, general accounting, public accounting, or business/office accounting.
  • Experience and understanding of Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution and other related benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of ERISA.


Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is $45,300 min - $88,440 max. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
