REPORTS TO: Community Schools Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Schools Integrated Support Specialist leads the planning and implementation of curriculum alignment between school day and extended day activities. Develop a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework to address the needs of the whole child/student, including academic, social/emotional/behavioral, health, and college and career readiness, providing information to school-based teams, CBOs Community Schools Director, and district departments, ensuring that MTSS components are established in the district. Such alignment will ensure hands-on learning is consistent throughout the school day and extended day.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Assist in guiding the district in the build-out and refinement of an MTSS framework across departments and schools, which may include, but is not limited to, Student Assistance Team (SAT), Scientific Research Based Interventions (SRBI), Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), etc.
- Collaborates with district and school leadership to identify students for support and the focus of the support.
- Communicates student progress to school and district personnel.
- Communicates with families about student progress toward goals.
- Gather information about student needs from a variety of sources at the home, school, and district level.
- Acts as a connection between the provider and the school and/or district personnel.
- Represents the community schools’ models and its principles within the school to incorporate create approach to hands-on learning.
- Assist in the development and curriculum alignment of programs and projects supporting district strategic priorities.
- Compiles and prepares data on students’ success due to participation in school day and extended day activities.
· Assists in the research, development, and effective implementation of district-wide systems of support for students:
o Research and Development:
§ Inventory and identify current practices of MTSS across the district.
§ Assists in updating SRBI manual and procedures.
§ Assists in identifying clear processes for universal screening, which will be used to identify students who need additional support.
§ Assists in clearly defining each component of the MTSS framework as well as the evidence-based practices associated with each component.
§ Assists in researching and coordinating the selection of intervention materials and resources.
o Central Office Collaboration:
§ Assists in district cross-departmental and cross-functional team in support of MTSS efforts.
§ Assists in Identifying expectations for the use of MTSS for academic and non-academic needs and corresponding accountability structures.
§ Assists in establishing a progress monitoring system and data collection procedures in collaboration with the Office of Performance.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, and EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience including experience in an educational setting.
· Experience in school leadership, social work, or school counseling preferred.
· Possess an equity mindset and be culturally responsive.
· Ability to lead small and large groups through change efforts with a proven ability to build consensus among peer professionals.
· Demonstrated knowledge of MTSS frameworks including SAT, SRBI, PBIS, preferred.
· Understanding of state and federal guidelines and mandates that are relevant to MTSS design and implementation, preferred.
· Ability to use data for decision-making regarding student needs.
· Strong experience in curriculum development.
· Innovative thinker and resourceful planner.
· Demonstrated knowledge of student support programs in school settings
· Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to youth development.
· Ability to work well with staff members in a fair, effective and courteous manner.
· Resourceful with ability to engage staff, students, parents, and the community at large.
· Experience working with culturally, socially, and economically diverse student/parent populations.
· Ability to work within difficult time constraints and under stressful conditions.
· Outstanding organizational skills, writing and research skills.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft products, particularly Word and Excel.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a twelve-month work year position. Salary is commensurate with experience. $60,000 - $70,000.
EVALUATION: Evaluations shall be conducted annually by the supervisor.
