The Construction Intern is responsible for working closely with the Construction Manager overseeing multiple jobs related to capital improvements and construction as well as being able to perform capital assessments of buildings and properties during the due diligence phase of acquisitions. This position is accountable for ensuring capital projects are completed on-time, on budget, and with internal and external communication that meets best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Builds relationships and develops communication and interpersonal skills with subcontractors and project team members.
- Participates in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews and prepares the necessary documentation.
- Reviews and recommends change orders, solicits prices from subcontractors and suppliers, and ensures the budgets are amended as needed to reflect the changes to the project specifications.
- Assists the preconstruction team in performing quantity take offs, developing bid packages, soliciting bids, and preparing estimates.
- Supports the development and updating of the project schedule and subcontractor detail schedules.
Qualifications:
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may affect the construction schedule, and appropriately discuss concerns to business leaders when required.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and project management skills to effectively track, report, and manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment with a wide variety of people, including owners, architects, subcontractors, and business leaders.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Graduating between December 2025 and May 2026
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management
The Greystar Intern Program will run from June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025.
The compensation for this position is between $25-35/hr. depending on location.
We do not want housing cost to be a reason you do not apply for this internship. Greystar offers interns the opportunity to apply for a need-based housing stipend and requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, may be eligible for a discretionary weekly, monthly and/or quarterly bonus based on budget.
