Job Summary:
Assists with the operations and functions of the Department of Plant Operations primarily to keep buildings and surrounding areas clean.
Job Duties:
Performs routine cleaning tasks, such as mopping, vacuuming carpets, dusting, assists in moving and arranging of furniture and equipment. Cleans interior glass, wall partitions and interior and exterior windows. Removes disposable waste materials from buildings and premises; recycles per VSCC Recycling Guidelines. Performs primary daily functions of cleaning and restocking supplies in classrooms, restrooms, offices, public areas and supply areas. Ensures proper care, use, and performs routine maintenance on equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and good environmental practices. Perform routine floor care to hard surface and carpeted floors. Routinely completes setups for events/meetings. Works well with other custodians toward the timely accomplishment of group projects and team set-ups. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
One (1) year verifiable custodial or janitorial experience in a business or education environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to properly operate and maintain custodial equipment.
Ability to correctly use/administer chemicals and supplies.
Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures to include disposal procedures of hazardous materials.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
Ability to operate a computer in order to fill out timesheets and perform other required Safety and Human Resource training.
Pay Rate: $31,200 - $33,200 annual salary depending on experience
