Become a Data Analytics, Specialist - Legal Operations at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will use your skills in process management and quantitative analysis to provide essential support to the Legal department. These services include handling all aspects of legal billing, from processing invoices to resolving billing issues, providing analytical evaluations derived from metrics and reporting, supporting corporate initiatives & special projects, performing administration responsibilities, and participating in improvement opportunities for these processes. 

Key focus of role: 

  • Business Analysis Support: Processes a large volume of legal invoices, and ensures adherence to the Outside Counsel Guide. Maintain up-to-date billing records and vendor information by partnering with the TeamConnect Legal (TCL) Gatekeeper. Resolves billing discrepancies or errors in a timely and efficient manner. Responds to client inquiries regarding billing issues or concerns promptly. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all financial files and information.
  • Team Support: Performs Organizational Unit (OU) or department business operations, project support, and/or ad-hoc work, as assigned in support of the Legal Data Analytics functions, which may include but is not limited to performing reconciliations and running matter cost reports.
  • Metrics & Report Analysis: Develops minor to medium complexity reports using multiple data sources. Uses spreadsheets, databases, and other software applications in support of analysis projects using appropriate technical information and skills
  • Policy Admin Support: Contributes to the completion of internal business operations policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources
  • Perform data analysis using statistical techniques and tools and summarizes work performed
  • Creates and maintains data dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics
  • Collaborate with team members to identify trends and patterns in data
  • Support senior analysts in developing data models and algorithms
  • Documents data analysis processes and methodologies
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting regular data quality checks
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience performing data analysis.
  • Experience using a variety of data tools and software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in the field of analysis (i.e., business, project, finance and/ or operational analysis).
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with data extraction, transformation, and preparation for reporting and data dissemination
  • Experience and proficiency in SAP, case management system, and billing procedures.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Excel advanced formulas and functions, such as Vlookups, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Experience processing invoices, while ensuring adherence to rules, regulations, and/or procedural guidelines.
  • Experience maintaining billing records and vendor information.
  • Experience resolving billing discrepancies or errors in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Experience completing multiple projects/assignments concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Excellent teamwork, customer service, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience and proficiency using Excel functions such as pivot tables and macros.
  • Experience with project management tools and methods to manage single and multiple projects of moderate to high complexity, gather information, monitor and report project status, and coordinate activities to ensure timely delivery.
  • Experience in Project Support or Project Management.
  • Experience in Program Management, Business Development, Business Transformation, and/or Process Improvement methodologies.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
