Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Electro-Mechanical Technician to work in our Special Reactor Concepts department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.

You will support research, development, and demonstration projects from conceptual design through fabrication, assembly, adjustment, and testing prototypes. Engage as a team member for research equipment development including one of a kind electronic, electro/mechanical, mechanical devices, instrument and control processes.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the supervision and guidance to the advanced reactor technical team and management
  • Provide suggestions for different metallic and ceramic brazing techniques
  • Suggest assembly level solution techniques on ready to use industrial guidelines and procurement gaps
  • Assist with material integration for coupon tests, engineering demonstration units, and nuclear demonstration units
  • Understand the advantages and limitations of various metal cutting and ceramic cutting tools and approaches
  • Hypothesize and provide novel solutions for experiment assembly
  • Understanding of procurement and machining timelines for various test specimen
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Level 1: High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Level 2: A 2 year Vocational Training program and 3 years of related work experience, or a recognized trade apprenticeship and 2 years of related work experience.
  • Previous hands-on experience with metals and ceramics machining and assembling techniques
  • Comprehensive understanding of traditional and nontraditional machining techniques
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($21.90 - $36.13) / Level 2 ($25.18 - $41.54). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
