Position Information

Hiring Department: Data Center and Infrastructure Operations

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $75,925 annually.

A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Purpose

Under general supervision and with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, monitors data communications and wireless networks to ensure that networks are available to all system users and provides network support.

Essential Functions

Supervision and mentoring of team members as necessary.

Performs analysis of network needs and spearheads the design and deployment of network architectures upgrades to meet the growing demand of networking services.

Configures networks to ensure smooth and reliable operations for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Provides comprehensive understanding of all network firewalls. Installs, configures, monitors, and maintains firewall hardware equipment. Comprehensive knowledge also includes host-based, stateful-inspection, and next-generation on-premise and cloud firewalls.

Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.

Collaborates with executive management and department leaders to assess near and long-term network needs.

Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network change management, network mapping, processes, and service records.

Develops, implements, maintains, and trains on policies and procedures for all network & firewall administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Provides network performance statistics and reports.

Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Participates in managing all network security solutions.

Performs or assists with periodic network security audits.

Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to evaluate and recommend network products and services.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.



Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or field related to network technologies and infrastructures

and

Experience: Ten years of related experience and training to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
