Job Description:
The RF/Wireless Integrated Microwave Assembly (IMA) Engineer Lead is an experienced professional with proficient capability to perform RF/microwave circuit design and system cascade analysis. This individual shall possess practical knowledge of project management. She/he must be able to synthesize and develop new active and passive components using CAE analysis tools, and have hands on bench development and test skills. The person shall effectively communicate with contacts inside and outside of own department, customers, and suppliers. She/he will recommend enhancements to systems and processes. The individual will work to achieve technical performance while meeting schedule and cost operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, test and support production of active and passive microwave circuits and multi-function modules.
- Perform EM and linear simulations of microwave housings, transitions, and passive circuits.
- Perform linear and non-linear circuit simulations of microwave active circuits.
- Perform RF and microwave subassembly system analysis.
- Develop specifications for microwave components and subassemblies.
- Generate test and data reports.
- Design for ease of manufacturing.
- Manage project schedules and labor for engineering developments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrophysics and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of microwave active circuit design and simulation experience in at least two, but preferably more, active component area. RF/Microwave active component areas include, but are not limited to, the following: oscillators, synthesizers, PIN diode circuits, low noise amplifiers, integrated microwave assemblies.
- Extensive use and understanding of microwave test equipment including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and noise figure meters.
- Proficient in linear CAE. Significant capability using non-linear CAE.
- Experience using EM simulation CAE.
- Ability to gain Secret Level Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Design experience with low noise amplifier design and extensive experience in the design of passive components including coupling networks, power dividers, attenuators, isolators and detectors.
- Knowledge/application of filter synthesis and design.
- Significant System analysis experience comprising both cascade and spur analysis.
- Ability to manage projects and interface effectively with other functional areas.
- Experience designing products for Manufacturing.
- Proficient use of Keysight ADS, Keysight RFPro CAE tools.
- Use of CAD tools such as AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Design/test experience of circuits operating through 26GHz essential, with operation through 67GHz preferred.
- Experience designing with both chip and wire hybrid and PCB surface mount components.
- Hands-on experience testing and aligning fine pitch circuits under a microscope.
