About the role:
The Manager, People & Organization leads the execution of core Human Resources processes within Saks Fifth Ave in New York, as well as identifies opportunity for specific people strategies. The Manager, People & Organization is a key business partner to the Boutique Leadership Team (“BLT”) in helping build their leadership skills and driving performance in a human driven way.
Our ideal candidate will be both hands on and strategic, drawing upon their passion for building relationships, experience in creating effective solutions and have a minimum of 5 years experience.

• Partner with BLT and Education Team to onboard and integrate new team members.
• Conduct exit interviews and partner with BLT to utilize findings in making meaningful decisions within the Boutique.
Talent Development and Organizational Structure:
• Support the BLT in conducting career discussions with team members, highlighting developmental needs.
• Provide input on organizational structure, workforce planning, talent reviews and succession planning in partnership with Lead P&O for the Region.
• Guide the annual compensation and performance review process for the Boutique, providing direction, counsel, and support to the BLT.
• Analyze trends and utilize the insights gleaned in decision making related to various P&O priorities (i.e. diversity and well-being etc.).
Performance Management:
• Partner with the BLT to proactively identify opportunity areas and performance gaps.
• Support performance management by providing frequent guidance to BLT (i.e. coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and exits).
• Collaborate with BLT and Lead P&O for the Region to ensure consistency in handling of performance matters and administration of processes.
Recruitment:
• Forecast hiring needs with BLT, particularly as it relates to peak seasons.
• In partnership with BLT, responsible for leading full cycle recruitment for all positions under management level within BTQ.
• Serve as the first point of contact in BTQ for all things recruitment.
• Play an active role driving internal mobility by participating in “Monthly Mobility” call with other Managers in XXL BTQs.
• Responsible for running vacancy reports, keeping data accurate and up to date, and leveraging with BLT
• Responsible for creating and implementing sourcing strategies to build active pipeline leveraging Talent Acquisition COE
• Lead in person recruitment events and logistics for mass hiring interview days/events, etc.
• Responsible for upskilling hiring managers and interview panels via Hiring @ Our Best Trainings, D&I Anti-Bias Recruitment Trainings, Workday Recruit and LinkedIn Recruiter trainings
• Champion and accelerate a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Employee Relations:
• Manage and resolve employee relations issues by conducting timely, effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
• Consult with the internal Employee Relations / P&O Team / Legal Team to ensure consistency in handling of employee relations issues.
• In collaboration with Benefits team, manage worker’s compensation issues, leaves of absence and accommodations.
Compliance / Policy / Procedure:
• Continuously build a knowledge of employment best practices, with specific knowledge of Federal/State employment application to include: business process, talent management and development, hiring, employee relations, policies, and procedures, change management, problem solving, meeting design, etc.
• Partner closely with Legal, Retail Operations, Asset Protection and Total Rewards to establish alignment and respond to inquiries.

What you will bring to the team:
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), strong relationship building skills as well as the ability to influence and assess situations objectively.
• Ability to use discretion and independent judgment.
• Prior HR experience within a Retail/Wholesale environment preferred, with a passion for working regularly in the retail environment.
• Employee relations experience.
• Strong detail orientation and ability to prioritize.
• Comfort with HRIS systems (such as Workday) and performing basic analysis in Excel.
Position Logistics:
• Minimum of 5 years of core HR (HR Generalist) experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
• Requirement to be in home boutique (Saks NY) three (3) days per week
Compensation:
- The anticipated base salary range for this position is $63,400-$115,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.

- Fully Remote: Role can be conducted from home office, may require occasional travel and/or visits to corporate offices/points of sales.
- Partially Remote: Role requires a minimum of three-days in-person office presence at the designated location/office.
- Work-Place Essential: This role requires 5 days in person office at the designated location/office.
Retail/Field/Boutique positions:
- Partially Remote:
- Fragrance & Beauty Field, Fashion Regionals, etc.: Requires in-store presence to develop and coach teams, ensure boutique image and operational standards are upheld and support and create an elevated client experience. Eligible for flex time use.
- Workplace Essential:
- Boutique Management: Requires in-store presence to develop and coach teams, ensure boutique image and operational standards are upheld, and deliver elevated client service to drive business results.
- Front of House Fashion: Full-time in-store and in-person presence required to support client sales and client service deliver elevated client service to drive business results.
- Heart of House: Requires in-store presence to facilitate the opening and closing of the boutique; the receiving of inventory; shipping of product to support sales to ensure optimal client service.
