Purpose:
The Lead Associate is a hands-on, working position that reports to the Department and Assistant Department Manager. The Lead will assist in monitoring the processing and assembly and packaging of recipes while directing Associates in their daily tasks to complete recipes according to written instructions and/or specs. The Lead Associate will also be responsible for monitoring an efficient work flow, the productivity of Associates, the adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and safety standards, and ensuring the compliance of strict sanitation and food-handling standards.

Job Functions:
- Assist in the operations of the Packaging area in accordance with Dierbergs policies, procedures and standards.
- Oversee and direct Associates.
- Properly handle ingredients and their distribution according to spec sheets, labeling and organization of ingredients according to shelf life.
- Complete required paperwork and forms such as closing checklist, production books and the daily closing sheet for the Central Kitchen.
- Must be able uphold packaging standards and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist in any area of the kitchen as directed.
- Uphold all the general non-negotiable standards and hold all Associates to such.

Qualifications:
- 1+ years of previous warehouse or production experience and demonstrated the aptitude to lead Associates (previous supervisory experience is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive team environment.
- Must be proactive and self-directed with the ability to give direction to Associates, delegate tasks, and provide Associate feedback.
- Ability to effectively train and develop new Associates in the department.
- Must be detail-oriented, have strong reading, written, and verbal communication skills and solid problem solving abilities. Basic math skills are essential.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work for extended periods in coolers and freezers with temperatures of 0-34 degrees.
- Ongoing bending, lifting and reaching are required along with the ability to pull and push heavy loads.
- ServSafe and forklift certification will be required (these courses will be provided by Dierbergs).
