This position requires the ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time performing tasks such as data entry; repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Active Collections Supervisor, the Patient Financial Services Representative for Collections is responsible for the collection and resolution of inpatient and outpatient accounts from governmental, commercial, and/or managed care payers. The Representative is expected to be familiar with hospital and departmental policies and procedures and have the ability to utilize all resources within the hospital and department to accomplish assigned job duties. This position will provide customer service to patients and families to help ensure UKHC collects sufficient cash necessary to support healthcare operations via outbound and inbound patient calls. The PFS Representative will also participate in unit and enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will be customer service-oriented; possess in-depth HIPAA knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; have obtained Microsoft Office (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) proficiency; possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience
Associate degree, third-party insurance claims follow-up/collections experience, and medical office and/or clerical work experience preferred; previous experience working with patient accounts and HIPAA regulations highly preferred.
