NE Renewable Power is made up of 7 Biomass electric generating power stations located in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  These stations play a crucial role in supplying locally sourced renewable energy to the people of New England. Sprague brings over 150 years of energy operating experience to the operations of these facilities, and we’re hiring a Plant Manager for the Tamworth, NH location.

Our New England Renewable Power (NERP) Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative, operational and safety related  of the biomass sites, ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability. This role involves strategic planning, managing financial activities including budgeting and accounts payable, supervising staff, and fostering client and vendor relationships. The PM ensures compliance with company policies and regulations, drives performance improvements, and implements processes to enhance productivity. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication and people skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple direct reports, contractors, projects and deadlines effectively. This role also includes an expanded administrative role with Medius to quickly address issues directly with the NERP sites.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Site safety and environmental compliance
    • Develop, maintain and nurture a proactive safety culture at assigned facilities.
    • Ensure proper documentation and applicable training for safety related activities
    • Ensure proper attention to, and compliance to, Sprague Energy, state and federal environmental regulatory rules and regs.
  • Site Administration for assigned power plant assets  :
    • Perform routine administrative duties.
    • Ensure the submittal of, and proper documentation of:
    • Ensure the maintenance of all plant files, records, and regulatory reports.
      • Purchase Order processing with required backup documentation
      • All vendor onboarding requests.
      • All vendor information is up-to-date and accurate.
      • The research of, and resolution of payable issues.
      • Oversee the processing of invoices
      • Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors.
      • Provide check register and payment information to all site admins.
      • Provide payment reports for all locations.
      • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Provide payment reports for all locations.
    • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and provide training and procedure documentation for Site & Office Admins.
    • Conduct training sessions on accounts payable processes and systems.
    • Ensure Site & Office Admins are proficient in Medius and NERP Invoices.
  • Property Tax Tracking:
    • Track and manage property tax obligations for all locations.
    • Ensure compliance with local and state tax regulations.
    • Prepare and submit property tax invoices for payment for all locations.
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning:
    • Assist plant managers with the budgeting process.
    • Analyze budget data and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
    • Monitor budget performance and adjust plans as necessary.
  • System Administration:
    • Serve as Medius Admin to train the system to recognize invoices.
    • Ensure all payment systems are functioning correctly.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any system-related issues.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements for accounts payable.
    • Streamline workflows to enhance efficiency.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and integrate them into operations.

Act as a team member with all employees; comply with all NE Renewable Power policies and procedures.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Business Administrative work experience.
  • Post secondary education preferred.
  • Proven experience effectively supervising a team.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and work professionally with vendors and employees.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
