Principal, DB2 Performance & Capacity Planning Analyst
Job Description:
We are looking for an IBM DB2 for z/OS system performance expert. The role spans DB2 systems performance and DB2 application performance domains. As a DB2 performance expert, you will ensure efficient, high throughput, supremely performant DB2 data sharing groups. You will be working closely with the Mainframe application teams, DB2 database administrators and DB2 Systems Programmers to ensure a highly stable, reliable and performing DB2 systems' configuration, to deliver the best possible user experience to our customers.
The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring
A detailed understanding of DB2 Systems' and DB2 based Applications' performance tuning, DB2 Capacity management in a Parallel Sysplex environment on zOS.
Extensive understanding of real time performance monitoring tools like SYSVIEW for DB2 and Broadcom Detector.
Knowledge of post processing of SMF data using SAS/MXG and DB2 Omegamon PE.
Skills in Python, R, Power BI, Grafana, Postgres preferred.
A multidisciplinary approach to work across teams spanning IBM Mainframe Hardware Team, zOS, CICS, DB2, MQ Systems' programmers, application DB2 DBAs, Site Reliability Engineering Team and various other partners in Business Units across Fidelity.
A solid grasp of Application Software and Systems' software development lifecycle and in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies.
Expertise with data replication products to support DB2 in a Sysplex data sharing environment.
Extensive knowledge of DASD performance and Coupling Facility architecture on the mainframe platform as it relates to DB2.
Analytical skills for performance quantification with relevant and appropriate data sources.
Analyze, baseline and report DB2 system performance contextualizing with other subsystems like CICS, MQ, WAS and the zOS operating system.
