Job Description:
As part of the Quantitative Research & Investments (QRI) Division at Fidelity Investments, the Risk Analyst will work within a team of risk professionals that supports Fidelity's managed accounts business, Strategic Advisers (SAI). The Risk Analyst will partner with the SAI investment team to deliver superior risk‐adjusted performance for the wide range of multi-asset class investment solutions that SAI provides its clients.
Given the rapidly growing business, this position will evolve dynamically and requires an entrepreneurial spirit.
Responsibilities
As a Risk Analyst, you will partner with SAI's investment team to manage the market risk of our multi-asset class products. You will be responsible for monitoring and communicating the key sources of portfolio risk and performance to the portfolio manager and chief investment officer. You will leverage your expertise in risk modeling to uncover tail risks or hidden correlations across asset classes and will incorporate your knowledge of global macro, market trends, and geopolitical events in your analysis to offer portfolio construction recommendations.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Partner with SAI's Asset Allocation and Equity portfolio managers to manage portfolio risk and assist in portfolio construction
- Develop stress tests and scenarios that estimate portfolio sensitivities to extreme events
- Model risk of asset classes outside of core equity and fixed income (i.e. alternatives, private investments, and derivatives)
- Respond to ad-hoc senior management and portfolio manager requests from across SAI
- Evaluate SAI's risk models, user interfaces, and processes to ensure the risk management team continuously delivers high quality results
- Collaborate with our colleagues in QRI and Data Operations to further develop Fidelity's enterprise risk system
The Risk Analyst will work at the company's headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and will report to the Risk Management Team Lead.
Qualifications
- 3-7 years related experience in risk management at an asset manager or risk systems vendor
- MBA/MS in relevant field (Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
- CFA/FRM a plus
- Varied experience in investment risk management
Skills/Knowledge
- Strong communication skills, in particular in regards to translating complex quantitative analysis into relevant and applicable investment research
- Knowledge of investment risk management best practices and systems; Axioma, Barra, Bloomberg, FactSet, RiskMetrics etc.
- Strong ability to think critically and proven record for investment risk management
- Multi-asset class knowledge
- R, SQL, Python skills preferred
