Sports medicine physician to see referrals part time and see primaryIn accordance with the Physician’s Delineation of Privileges and under the direction of the Medical Director, the Physician will perform the following functions.
Objectives of this role:
- Comprehensive care of patients in the outpatient setting including chronic care management, preventative and acute care
- Conduct biomechanical examinations of patients.
- Assess and diagnose medical conditions including musculoskeletal injuries and ailments.
- Prescribe patients with medication and/or physical therapy as appropriate.
- Order and interpret results from laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Develop and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured patients.
- Provide nonsurgical care for injuries, such as ultrasound-guided injections.
Responsibilities
- Development of good therapeutic relationships with patients
- Provision of primary care services to a panel of patients in the outpatient setting including referral to specialists as needed.
- Consultative evaluation of patients with musculoskeletal ailments in the outpatient setting
- Integrate input from other physicians and team members to inform diagnoses and treatment programs.
- Assess whether injuries require medication, physical therapy, or a combination of both.
- Guide patients in improving their physical and mental condition, managing pain, and avoiding future injuries.
- Maintain detailed patient records in electronic medical records.
- Identify risk factors for injuries.
- Educate patients on how to manage their overall health, existing injuries, and prevent future ones
Practice Based Learning and Improvement:
- Monitors quality of own practice and participates in continuous quality improvement.
- Applies/conducts research studies pertinent to area of practice to improve outcomes.
- Uses evaluative information including peer review to improve care and practice.

Other Duties and Responsibilities/Organization Competencies:
- Reads, understands, and complies with all Standards of Conduct, JC policies and all laws related to position responsibilities and employment at EBNHC.
- Upholds procedures and systems to safeguard the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
- Upholds safety policies, practices, and procedures including safety, fire safety, electrical safety, proper body mechanics, and material handling, office/ergonomic safety, and other employee safety measures.
EDUCATION:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Residency and fellowship in family medicine and sports medicine, respectively. Current certification to practice as a primary care and sports medicine doctor in the state of Massachusetts without restrictions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current certification to practice as a primary care and sports medicine doctor in the state of Massachusetts without restrictions.
- Thorough knowledge of nonsurgical treatments, such as trigger-point injections, joint aspirations/injections.
- Ability to collaborate with other physicians in patient care.
- Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.
- Proficiency in use of electronic medical records (EMRs)
