Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Visualization Engineer to work in our AI Data and Visualization department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our or Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

Our team applies skillsets in computer science, computer programming, and visualization, to help address challenges related to nuclear energy and energy security.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform research and development to conceptualize and employ novel solutions that advance state-of-the-art energy security, nuclear materials, and fuels.
  • Collaborate with teams in multiple disciplines including 3D visualization, cybersecurity, materials science, high performance computing, physics, engineering, and more.
  • Develop data visualization tools and products. Visualizations may focus on extended reality (XR) including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR).
  • Use visualization tools to translate exceptionally complex, technical data and make it useful for others to understand.
  • Collaborate with other technical professionals to define system specifications, perform feasibility studies, prepare project time and cost estimates, design, test, modify, document, and maintain applications incorporating visualization engineering techniques.
  • Perform work building a variety of subject matter domains which may include spatial and temporal data analysis and modeling, visualization, cartography, web-based mapping application development, spatial database development management, spatial data collection, CAD, visualization tools, data mining tools, model and simulation, and expert analysis.
  • You will report to the Department Manager.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Virtual Reality, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Background in adapting large CAD models for use on VR/AR/XR devices, developing multiplayer environments, environment optimization through scripts, developing scripts for specific interactions in 3D environments, and deploying 3D environments to a variety of hardware devices.
  • Specific skills: Unity XR, Unreal Engine, WebXR, Netcode for GameObjects, Python, C#, and C++.
  • Specific hardware: Microsoft Hololens 2, Quest 3, Magic Leap 2, HTC Vive Pro 2.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.  


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is $63,528.00 min - $130,284.00 max. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
