Position Summary:&nbsp;Do you have a passion for sharing your expertise, craft or hobby with others? Pellissippi State’s noncredit lifelong learning program offers personal enrichment classes for the community with a wide range of topics, including: fitness, languages, musical instruments, arts and crafts, wellness, history, and more. Class participants are community members ages 18+. Some of the many benefits of teaching a lifelong learning class include working with engaged and enthusiastic adult learners and flexible class scheduling.
Our noncredit class schedule is released twice a year: spring/summer and fall. Classes can be as short as 90 minutes or up to 12 hours in length. While we accept applications for all topics, we are prioritizing the following areas for spring/summer 2024: languages, basic photography, photo editing, gardening and composting, fitness for ages 55+, blacksmithing, resin arts and crafts, textiles, special interest history, and Microsoft 365 programs.
Instructors are expected to have a high level of expertise in the subject of their proposed class, and some experience in teaching or training others. While compensation can vary depending on the type of class being offered, noncredit instructors are generally paid starting at $40 per class hour or a flat fee per class, and work on a temporary, part-time contract.
Instructors are responsible for developing their class content with assistance from the Program Coordinator as needed, and teaching the class. The Workforce &amp; Community Development office with work with instructors to determine the best format, date and time of offering, and will set the registration fee for the class.

This is a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Dean of Arts, Sciences, &amp; Technologies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Teach 24 hours (TLE) per academic year in Health Information Technology online lectures and labs. The Program Coordinator will receive 6 hours of release time per academic year to perform administrative duties related to Health Information Management.</li>

<li>Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCC’s program viable and competitive.</li>

 Position Summary:&nbsp;The overall purpose of this job is to manage and operate all science laboratories on campus. Main functions include preparing science experiments, as well as obtaining all supplies, materials, and equipment needed by the faculty and students in the laboratories through college channels, and setting these out in an orderly fashion. This includes such things as preparing chemicals, reagents, and solutions, growing plants, properly disposing of chemical and biohazard waste, updating SDS information and other safety protocols, maintaining a clean/safe environment in the laboratories, cleaning up after experiments, and making sure equipment is accounted for and in working order. Another responsibility is to communicate with the laboratory instructors to help with troubleshooting minor issues during class. As a member of a site campus, this person is expected to engage with the campus community at that site campus. All of these are done with a team attitude to the benefit of our students and the goals of our college.
Duties and Responsibilities:
42% Set up laboratory for both lab experiments and for lab practicals with required supplies, materials, and equipment; take down the same. Lab setups include laboratory courses in General Biology, General Chemistry Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology.
20% Clean up lab(s), including sanitation, waste disposal, maintenance and/or repair laboratory equipment, and models, ensuring proper storage of equipment, keeping accurate/up to date inventory of lab models and equipment
10% Order &amp; obtain needed supplies through communication with the Lead Laboratory Technician and other department members.

Complexity &amp; Creativity: 
The Executive Assistant relies on the College’s and TBR’s documented policies and procedures as needed. A reasonable amount of analytical, technical and creative thinking skills is necessary when considering departmental staff needs. Steps are taken with little to no supervision to improve the work environment in regard to general office flow. Technical proficiency is maintained by attendance of software trainings and other professional development opportunities. It can be very time consuming to schedule meetings where conflicts can mean managing multiple priorities in creative ways.
Must have good interpersonal skills and the desire and ability to interact well with coworkers, students, and the public. Strong communication skills in working with business and industry partners, with a general understanding of workforce and community needs. It is also important to be professional, diplomatic and discreet as the position has access to personal and confidential information that may not be shared.

Magnitude of Impact: 
The employee is part of the front line of the External Affairs division and can be the first person someone will meet when coming to the college. Common errors include those in a typical office setting: a typo in a document or report, misinforming someone due to an information or procedural change that we might not be aware of, leaving someone off a distribution list, or an email, a calendar schedule error, and transposing telephone numbers. There is a high likelihood that the error will be caught by proofing and double-checking with the vice president or other External Affairs employee(s). Work is verified as needed.
Financial Impact: The employee is responsible for office material assets including office computer(s), printers, monitors, phone, scanner, etc. Additionally, late or inaccurate reporting to Human Resources or Payroll can affect the processing of faculty/staff payroll, such as misplacing a contract or not processing intent to hire paperwork.
Budgetary: The employee does not have budget authority but will use budget tracking and purchasing software to assist in the tracking of various budgetary accounts under the office of External Affairs.
Judgement and Decisions: The employee operates independently to manage office and set-up for efficiency; to maintain the office’s calendar, subject to final approval from the VP. Coordinate with External Affairs direct reports in regards to office calendars. The employee operates independently, contacting numerous constituencies to track and verify contracts and expenditures as needed.
Nature of Contacts: The employee has contact with the president and the president’s office, with the other vice president’s and their offices, with purchasing, human resources, all other divisions/departments and their respective staff members in the college; Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR staff), State of Tennessee auditors, outside vendors and community members. The contact is frequently to provide or get information to coordinate meetings, conferences, webinars, purchase orders, travel requests, leave requests, etc. Will be required to travel to and work with other Campus personnel.
Physical Demands: Much of the work requires sitting in front of a computer and using the hands and fingers to type or use a computer mouse. Also, required to travel between buildings on campus. There may be infrequent travel including driving PSCC vehicles for training and conferences. Must be able to detect incorrect computation on paper and computer, detect color in Excel spreadsheets and other reports; making color copies; detect originals from copies. The employee must be able to prepare reports in Excel including graphics. This position involves extended periods of time viewing a computer screen. when communicating with students, other employees and faculty to answer their questions, to prepare minutes and to listen to audio training from computer. Occasional physical expectations such as moving tables, chairs, etc in setup of meetings and events.
Hazards: Typical office risk of paper cuts, minor scrapes and bruises. Eye strain resulting from visual demands. Neck and back strain from extended desk work and stress. Carpal Tunnel and other repetitive motion disorders are potential risks are high due to extensive repetitive motions.

Title: Instructor 12 Month/Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Tenure Track)

Job Summary:
The Director is responsible for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program which grants technical certificates. The Director will lead, supervise, manage, and implement all aspects of the program, including classroom and online course development and instruction, curriculum development, marketing, recruitment and advising of students, budgeting, and faculty supervision and support, and revision/modification of all program components as needed. Position includes teaching responsibilities, including clinical practicum and capstone courses. The Program Director holds a 12-month faculty position with release time each term based on the size of the program, as determined by the Dean and VPAA. This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies. Faculty are expected to provide academic advising to students and participate in college, department, and community activities related to the College’s mission. 
Job Duties:
Teach 38-42 TLE per year via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned with both teaching and approved release time included in this expectation. Typically, program directors receive 3 TLE release time per term. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required. Develop curriculum; evaluate and review of credit and non-credit courses; develop online classes as needed. Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve goals and objectives (and those by any licensing, registering, or certifying agency as applicable); assist with affiliation and accreditation efforts. Recruit and advise students and support persistence/progression through graduation. Maintain office hours and availability to students. Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Attend college, division, department, and faculty meetings. Serve on college and department committees. Attend professional development activities. Participate in community service. Ensure compliance with all Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and College policies, guidelines, licensure requirements, and other state and federal guidelines. In addition to the typical faculty responsibilities above, the Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is expected to: Direct, supervise, manage, and implement the overall operation of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate program faculty and ensure adequate staffing for the program courses. Establish annual program goals including curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. Lead and coordinate all accreditation activities and documentation for the program, including but not limited to staying current with requirements and completing self-studies, site visits, and annual reports. Market the program, recruit and advise students into the program and provide academic and career advisement for prospective and current students. Coordinate an advisory committee to support the program, hold annual or semi-annual meetings, and ensure documentation of all advisory committee activities. Monitor and analyze data pertinent to students’ successful academic performance and ensure completion of VSCC’s Academic Program Review for Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Complete and coordinate program’s TBR Academic Audit. Manage online course delivery by ensuring all model courses are current. Manage textbooks including working with departmental committees during the review process, coordinating with publishers, negotiating purchase packages, and organizing demonstrations and training for electronic resources. Plan, conduct, and document regular departmental meetings. Oversee student complaint resolution by ensuring that student discipline and complaint policy and procedures are followed, meet with students and coordinate with the Dean and/or Student Services personnel in mediating resolution. Develop, promulgate, implement, and monitor policies and procedures related to program equipment and laboratories that are consistent with Vol State and TBR policy. Develop, monitor, and maintain department budgets. Maintain parts and supplies inventory, ordering parts and supplies and keeping related records. Recommend purchase of new equipment and submit appropriate purchase and/or TAF requests following Vol State and department procedures. Network with industry personnel to assist in promotion of the college and its programs and the securing of guest speakers and adjunct faculty. Maintain the program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS); supervises and directs required reporting to state and national agencies. Oversee use of facilities and equipment for day, evening, and weekend classes offered by the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Act as liaison between students, sponsoring agencies, local medical community, and state level certifying/licensing agency as needed. Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. Possess at a minimum the ARDMS credential of RDMS with registries in Abdomen and OB/GYN. Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques. Note: Documentation of experience in educational theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques. Possess a minimum of two years of experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution. Additional registries in Cardiac Sonography (RDCS). Collegiate level teaching experience. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
