As a Environmental Health Specialist within the Crawford County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. 

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the District Environmental Health Director,  will be to provide inspection/permitting/consultation for compliance with state rules and regulations for the following facilities within the Crawford and Peach County Environmental Health Programs:  Food Service, Public Pools, Tourist Accommodations, and Body Art.  In addition, whoever is hired will train to provide services within Wastewater Management, Well Water, Emergency Preparedness, Rabies, and other environmental health programs as well as investigate all assigned health-related complaints received. Salary may be adjusted based on prior experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited four-year college or university which included the completion of 40 quarter hours (or 27 semester hours) in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.); valid driver’s license
Additional Experience Required for EHS II: one year of full-time professional-level environmental health experience equivalent to an Environmental Health Specialist I with a county board of health.
 
Additional Experience Required for EHS III: minimum of two years of full-time professional-level environmental health experience equivalent to the levels of an Environmental Health Specialist I and II.
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR EHS II and EHS III:

  •  Experience in plan review, permitting and inspections in all Environmental Health programs. 
  • Current Georgia Inspector Certification Level II. 
  • Current Georgia Standardized Food Service Establishment Inspection Officer. 
  • Completion of Georgia Department of Public Health New Environmentalist Training Modules
