Job Responsibilities

Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides education, technical assistance and training on HIV testing and biomedical interventions to medical providers. Manages the planning and implementation of clinical educational offerings within the district. Performs HIV testing, counseling, and outreach services to high-risk residents in the community. The preferred candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and time-management skills. Other duties as assigned. This is a grant-funded position under HIV Prevention. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.
 
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Implements and maintains the medical provider education campaign
  • Provides technical assistance and advise to develop, implement, and improve HIV testing procedures in primary care settings, community health centers, and institutions 
Assesses factors shaping the adoption of routine HIV testing and identifying barriers to implementation

Minimum Qualifications

External candidates: Will be hired as a PH RN Consultant 2; based on education and/or experience    
Internal candidates: Are eligible as a lateral transfer as a PH RN Cons. 2 or 3, must be currently working as a PH RN Consultant
 

PH RN Cons. 2 Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in nursing, public health or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Bachelor's degree nursing from an accredited college or university AND Five years of nursing experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Two years of experience at the lower level PH Nursing Prog Consultant 1 (HCP210) or position equivalent AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Pay Grade M $68,519.83 Annually

Internal Only:PH RN Cons. 3 Minimum Qualifications:Master’s degree in nursing, public health or related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of PHN experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Three years of experience at the lower level PH Nursing Prog Consultant 2 (HCP211) or position equivalent AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license and CPR certified. Pay Grade N $76,218.42 Annually

Preferred QualificationsExperience in HIV prevention and biomedical interventions AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Two years of experience at the lower level PH Nursing Prog Consultant (HCP210) or position equivalent AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified. Experience teaching educational material AND development experience.      
 
Work Conditions & Physical DemandsThis position requires flexibility of working in general office environment, clinic environment, and community outreach. Not always a sedentary position; will require some walking and long periods of standing.  Extensive travel within district and state is required. Will require working directly with blood-borne pathogens.
