Job Summary

Job Duties:
• What do Peer Writing Tutors do? Peer Writing Tutors are current students who have successfully completed their ENG/IRW courses. They tutor students currently enrolled in ENG/IRW by helping them understand course materials, develop effective study skills, and improve their writing skills. • How do Peer Writing Tutors help students learn? Peer Tutors collaborate with students to help them strengthen their knowledge and skills. Tutors work with the student, rather than doing the work for the student. In turn, the Peer tutor will gain a deeper understanding of the subject and improve on various soft skills. Tutors meet with students individually for sessions lasting up to 30 minutes. Additional duties include completing mandatory training, logging tutoring appointments in Starfish, and assisting with help desk duties. All tutoring takes place in the Learning Commons or online.
